COOL
is a place to explore, grow and learn. These are a few of
the subjects and areas that will be offered to your child at
the Center:
In the Reading and Writing program, students will be taught
the foundation and mechanics of becoming an effective reader
and writer. They will learn the skills of decoding,
spelling, grammar, and syntax. Through interactive learning,
they will apply that foundation to the reading of literature
as well as creative and informative writing. |
| The
exciting topics in Science and Social Studies will serve as
the core for the interdisciplinary curricula. The students
will discover the complex, wonderful planet we inhabit and
the histories and lives of the people who share it with us.
Interactive learning will be combined with thinking and
organization strategies as students learn how to study. |
 |
| Each
student will learn the power of Mathematics: the ability to
understand, reason, predict, invent, problem solve and
communicate mathematically. The standards of the National
Council of Teachers of Mathematics will serve as the basis
for the instruction which will include concept development,
computation and applied learning. |
 |
Because of its small size, COOL can offer each of its
students a state-of-the-art computer system. Students will
learn to use the computer as a powerful tool, researching
subjects through the Internet and other resources. A
"toolkit" of Graphic Organizers pave the way for future
success. |
| WHEW!
If this seems overwhelming, remember that the COOL
environment is designed to be both learning-intensive and
fun! There will be time for friends and games, and time to
curl up on a comfy chair with an adventure book from the
library. |
 |
| But
we won't always be inside; with places like Squam Lake, Plum
Island, and Odiorne Point right around the corner, we'll be
out exploring nature and history. COOL is
learning, living, loving education! |
